The client:
Shell Bay Restaurant in Studland, Dorset.
The brief:
With magnificent views across Poole Harbour, Shell Bay is a top Dorset seafood restaurant situated on the beach in Studland. To satisfy customer demand during the summer period, the management team decided to invest in the property and research ways in which to utilise the external areas to the front and side of the restaurant – ultimately expanding both the 170m2 ‘al a carte’ restaurant and 37m2 bar facility.
The Broadview solution:
Broadview set about developing and installing two bespoke terrace frame awnings following a consultation with the management team to establish the most suitable product designs, fabrics, and colours for the restaurant that would create a light, bright and comfortable environment.
Built with a robust aluminium powder-coated framework, each terrace frame awning has a waterproof canvas cover with side panels. The two independently motorised terrace frame awnings are fully retractable, enabling the restaurant to draw back the roof and/or fold up the side panels as and when required.
From the initial consultation, to the manufacture, delivery and installation, the process was completed within six weeks and within budget.
The result:
As a result of designing and installing two tailor-made terrace frame awnings, Broadview has assisted with expanding the restaurant’s floor space by 25%.
The product has provided more visitors with the opportunity to dine and enjoy a drink ‘alfresco’ at the restaurant. The terrace frame awnings have increased the al a carte restaurant and the bar area, which can now cater for an additional 60 people.
Testimonial:
“The Broadview awnings have not only increased our covers but the products have enabled us to attract a wider range of clientele, from couples wanting a romantic ‘alfresco’ evening meal by the sea to families wanting shelter from the sun during the day.”
